Interactions with ibalizumab have been added to the website and HIV iChart app.
Ibalizumab is a monoclonal antibody which blocks HIV-1 from infecting CD4 cells by binding to domain 2 of CD4 and interfering with post-attachment steps required for viral entry. It is given by intravenous infusion every two weeks and must be used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs. No drug interaction studies have been conducted with ibalizumab. Based on ibalizumab’s mechanism of action and target-mediated drug disposition, drug-drug interactions are not expected.
