New format interaction charts

Tuesday 06 October 2009

The format of the interaction charts has been changed to make searching for interactions easier and to distinguish between those interactions for which data exists (“referenced interactions”) and those which are predicted based on routes of metabolism and elimination (“theoretical interactions”).

The search interface has been simplified so that there in now only one option. Previously there were multiple search options depending on the class of the HIV drugs and an option to search for interactions between HIV drugs. These have now been combined so that you can search for interactions with multiple classes of HIV drugs without the need to re-enter the comedications. The interface has also been designed so that it automatically searches for interactions between any HIV drugs entered.

Although the overall classifications remain the same (red, amber, green), the symbols used in the tables have been changed to make it easier to see which interactions are referenced and which are theoretical. An empty symbol indicates a theoretical interaction, whereas a solid symbol indicates a referenced interaction – clicking on a solid symbol will display details of the interaction. The printable charts have been updated with these symbols which makes it easier to see where the website should be checked for further information.
